Egor Menchikov was born in Chelyabinsk, Russia. He began his ballet training at Nureyev Russian State Ballet Academy in Ufa, before moving to Saint Petersburg and joining the Vaganova Academy of Russian Ballet.
After graduating in 2003, Egor joined the St. Petersburg State Yakobson Ballet Theater and subsequently was engaged as a soloist with the Israel ballet.
In 2006 he joined HNK- the Croatian National Theatre as a Principal .His repertory there included all the main classical roles, as well as parts created especially for him by Derek Deane, Nacho Duato and Leo Mujic, among others.
In 2009 he joined the Polish National Ballet, also as a Principal, where he widened his repertoire further with main roles in works by Kryzstof Pastor, Maurice Béjart, Patrice Bart, Natalia Makarova, Yuri Grigorovich, Frederick Ashton and many others.
In 2010, he was invited to perform at the international gala of Les Etoiles du 21ème Siècle in Paris.
In 2012, Egor joined the Zurich Ballet under the direction of Christian Spuck, where he had the opportunity to dance main roles in works by Paul Lightfoot, Sol León,William Forsythe and Christian Spuck.
In 2014 Egor decided to move with his Israeli wife to Israel, where in addition to his career as a dancer, he started creating his own choreography. His first work - the duet "Dawn" - was awarded a special prize in the National Dance Confederation of Israel Competition. This led to his being invited by Elie Lazar, the director of Ballet Ness-Ziona, to create a piece for the company-“Streams”.
His unique style is a blend of his strong classical ballet roots with reflections of his wide artistic experience in Europe, plus some influence from his exposure to the Israeli dance scene, including Ohad Naharin's Gaga technique.
In 2017, Mr. Menshikov’s piece, “Streams” was invited to take part in the prestigious memorial festival for Ekaterina Maximova in Russia. Additionally, “Streams” was commissioned for performances by Encore Dance Company at Sadler’s Wells Theatre in London. Later in the year, Mr. Menshikov created a new work, entitled “Ashes to Ashes”, as part of the Curtain Up choreographer’s festival in Tel Aviv.
"Ashes to Ashes" was chosen to take part in Suzanne Dellal's International exposure event & in July 2018 was invited to be the closing performance of the "Hangzhou" International dance festival" in China. Later that year Menshikov was commissioned to create a new story ballet for Jerusalem Ballet, his interpretation for the timeless story Fiddler on the Roof, premiered October 2018 in Jerusalem. It was very well-received by local and international critics, as well as the public.
In 2018 Egor was also chosen for the second time to create a new piece for the Curtain up festival, his new piece "The other me " premiered on November 2018 in Suzanne Dellal.

"In recent years, Menshikov went a long way to integrate the regimented body politics with contemporary notions. His keen eye for the stage’s space, solid and interesting compositions, intuitive sense of timing and focused agenda, won him attention and a feeling that his talents can take him even further".

"With strong ballet background, his keen eye for composition and assured touches of humor and bravura, he made a charming rendition of Fiddler on the Roof
Menshikov did a particularly good job in managing to build dramatic moments and coach the dancers in handling the more theatrical sections".
